Knurr and Spell is self-described by its members as friends playing music. An eclectic indie rock band from the Chapel Hill area, the band’s members have been playing in and around the Triangle for well over 10 years. Current and past musical projects include North Elementary, The Chest Pains, Pleasant, Simple, The Rose Marie, and Casting Company, but their sound can be best described by their musical influences which range from Pavement, The Pixies, and Modest Mouse to Swirlies and David Byrne. Spastic beats and driving bass rhythms provide a textured backdrop for stylistic and layered punchy guitar melodies with unique vocals and harmonies. Knurr and Spell’s first full length album “Ought” was recorded in the late spring of 2015 by Thom Canova and released in December 2015 on Potluck Records. Knurr and Spells are: Sean Parker (guitar/vocals), Betty Rupp (bass/vocals), Rodney Merritt (guitar/vocals), and Eric Hermann (drums).
